Our Story

Prosperity Gardens, Inc., a Champaign non-profit, was created in 2010 to provide hands-on garden-based education and green business employment opportunities. The organization also offers affordable, locally grown produce for Champaign-Urbana’s low-income residents. Its urban gardening programming is currently centered on two city-owned lots on North First Street and in 2018 and additional 1 acre urban farm site will come to fruition. Prosperity Gardens’ services target urban neighborhoods that are considered “food deserts” where access to healthy foods is limited by a lack of resources and full service grocery options.
